  1. I enjoyed the court cases, but did anyone think that those people could be you or someone in your family? I understand the issues about immigrants not paying taxes(they do when they work)and receiving tuition, but we have citizens using tax money to sit at home collecting AFDC, Food Stamps,Medicaid etc,why don't we say anything about them? Or the fact that Hispanics are very hard working individuals, and take the jobs some of our own people won't take. When you come from the club at 2am who is in the drive thru window? When you go to some of the bathrooms on campus, who is keeping them clean(ok sometimes) but actually who is messing the bathrooms up? And if you were locked up do you think you would want your child raised by someone else,if you felt you could do better by both of you,if the child was with you? And does anyone know how many children are in foster care, and facilities because their parents are locked up. Just throwing stuff at the class

  2. I enjoyed the mock-trial cases in class, though i noticed that the same few were actually participating. In our group, everyone had a part in the experience, which helps you relax and enjoy the class more. Overall, well done class!

  3. I agree I enjoyed the trials that we had on Thursday........and I must say Dr. Greenfield you played each role very well. I could actually see some of the female inmates responding to the questions as you did. Everyone always says how hard the Hispanic people work but have you ever noticed how many of them are on some of the same jobs that African Americans use to do?

  4. I enojoyed the cases in class on thursday...even though i thought my group had a stronger case (oh boy just went to trail way too many times he had a strong closing...lol just playing...) i enjoy the fact that dr.greenfield comes to class with new ideas each time..i hate the same learning tactic...i easily get distracted....lol

  5. Tonya you are so correct...I thought about the case i did "babies behind bars"...if i were a pregnant mother behind bars i would want to keep my child with me and be able to raise my child rather than giving to a foster family and not know how my child is and is he/she getting the proper care...i know some may some they should have thought about their actions before they done what they done...but in reality everyone has faults some are just worst than others....
the other case about allowing the illegal immigrants going to school...i wouldnt allow it because WHATS SOOO HARD ABOUT GOING THROUGH THE CORRECT PROCESS????

  6. It sounds like the trial went Great!! Can anyone especially from my group, fill me in please. I was unable to attend class and I hated to miss it. Dr. Greenfield's class is so controversial and challenging which is such a powerful learning tool. Let me know what the verdicts were, I know Chelle will help me out..

  7. It seems as though everyone would like to discuss the mock trials, so I will just stay on that topic. I thought the cases that were picked, where very interesting. And something everyone could relate to in some way. Dr. G did and excellent job with the characters. And as students we presented our cases as best we knew how. Overall I think everything turned out great, and at the end of it all we all were winners...

  8. i love this class, wish it was available alot sooner. The part that keeps me interested is the fact that Greenfields comes prepared with ideas and energy. I was always in the classes next door to his, and i would be sitting in class wishing i could be in Mr. G's class cause everyone was loud and laughing and seem to be having a better time then i was. So now that im a senior im glad i had the chance to take one of his classes. Oh yea, and im really excited to present out topics soon. Donchelle and I are going to kill this... so class mates be ready... Mr.G I didnt see you at CIAA? And before the semester is over can you rap for us...? PLEEEAAAASSSSEEE

  9. Leolabunnie, my daughter saw Dr.G somewhere and told me i had to take his class, she was so amazed by his presentation, i think it was CIAA thing for seniors when it was in Raleigh. She spoke so highly of him,she said I would be amazed by how he spoke and captured everyones attention. She did not lie, he does an excellent job teaching and making me want to learn more. I would just read what was assigned, but now i read, to learn, and actually carry on intellcutal conversations.(ladies men like a smart woman)and i have so much more useful information, that i find myself using in other classes.

  11. This class really stimulates the mind and causes interactions across ages and intellects. Its very enjoyable. I feel that its good to get various takes on the problems of society especially since we do have such various ages and backgrounds among classmates. The mock trials were interesting as well as discussions on homelessness and young girls in videos. I appreciate everyone's comments.

  13. I enjoyed the sharing and caring session:) with the necklaces because it's always nice to hear what someone thinks of you especially when it's something good. I will admit at first I wasn't feeling this class b/c I am the "to myself" type that usually comes in the classroom go straight to the back and try to blend in with the color of the wall... but not in here!!! It's still a process but one I am beginning to enjoy. I come out learning something every time and having fun doing it! :)

  14. Denise and Donchelle, glad to see the mention of the necklace activity! I was surprized to learn that I am respected as well as liked by many of my younger classmates. Several spoke of my honesty,my openness and of course my smile! Thanks guys this one's for you!!! (SMILE)

  15. Well i enjoyed the mock trial in class even tho i didnt agree wit the side i was on... I feel that aslong as immigrants do everything they need to do to go to college, who are we to deprive them of their higher education. The passing of the strings and necklaces was an alright activity, i enjoyed meeting and talking to new people and hearing what they had to say about me...

  16. Class has been very interesting the last couple weeks. The mock trial was a great activity and we hit on some very important topics. Women being able to see their kids behind bars and illegal immigrants getting instate tuition. The women should be able to see their kids just not behind bars maybe in an open room or outside not in the cell. withe the immigrants as long as they are law biding citizens who cares what tuition they pay. The necklace activity was also good to see what others thought of you and had to say on how thy admire what kind of student as well as person you are.
